Any monkey can take a picture… you just aim and click. Its not that difficult, its not rocket science. Right? Actually if you were physiclly able to do the photos yourself you would. If you didnt want to be in them, or if you had the right equipment or had lots of extra time to learn photoshop you wouldnt havae to hire anybody to click the camera. With the digital age and everyone buying an awesome digital camera people really do think this way. Photography isnt thought of as art any more.  I want to remind everyone that its not just somebody pushing a button that you are praying for, there is so much more that goes into it and you will see why a professional photographer is worth the investment.

One of my fave movies is “You’ve Got Mail”. The lead female character owns a tiny book store filled with treasures during the discount age. Everyone wants the most they can get for the least amount of money. But her shop isnt just about selling books. She knows her stuff and is good at it. She loves everything about what she does and that makes for a beautiful shopping experience for her customers. Then here comes Joe Fox, the ‘book selling monkey from a discount bookstore’.  He just doesnt get it:

“George Pappas: The, uh, illustrations are hand tipped.
Joe Fox: And that’s why it costs so much?
George Pappas: No, that’s why it’s WORTH so much.”

 

The same is true for photography. This isnt just about the pic you may or may not be able to snap yourself. Its about the artistry. Its about everything you dont see. The brain storming before your shoot, the hours of editing afterward. The unique vision, years of practice and passion the photographer has for her craft are really what you pay for.
